Breakdown of US Foreign Aid in Africa

It took me awhile to find accurate and viable data on this subject but the US Census has published this information recently. Its interesting to see how much Africa has been supported by the United States compared to other regions in the world.

Here is a further breakdown of each individual country and how much they have recieved.

Any surprises that catch your eye?

  1. This is great information! Is it for all Aid in general or specifically Africa? I thought it was interesting how much the jump in military assistance was from 2005 to 2006. Maybe that is something we can look further in to

  2. I hate to admit this, but we can't blame the U.S. for not helping. What, exactly, is being done with the money? We'll probably never know =/. The sad part is that the government of some countries (like Nigeris, from Nick's or Will's post) keeps the money and the popullation never sees it.

  3. It strikes me from the top of the list that a lot can change in just six years (Afghanistan). Here's a blog you might find interesting and useful: http://chrisblattman.com/about/, especially his links to impact evaluations.
